Today marked the start of Samsung’s roll out of the Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy SIII and whilst it started in Poland and is apparently going active across Western Europe. Samsung haven’t left everyone else entirely in the dark. Whilst there’s no definitive news on timelines for Jelly Bean updates in the states they have at least now told us what devices are looking to get Jelly Bean at all. It’s a long list, 15 devices total, that are said to be getting the update and you can see if your device has made the cut below:
- Galaxy Tab 2 7.0
- Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
- Galaxy Note 10.1
- Galaxy S2
- Galaxy Note
- Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus
- Galaxy S Advance
- Galaxy S2 LTE
- Galaxy Music
- Galaxy Chat
- Galaxy Ace 2
- Galaxy Beam
- Galaxy Ace Plus
- Galaxy Mini 2
- Galaxy S DUOS
I’m actually a little surprised to see that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 from last year has been left off of the list. If a device will run Ice Cream Sandwich, it’ll run Jelly Bean – this isn’t a massive leap it’s an overhaul and a tidy up at most. The fact that Samsung isn’t willing to update one of their best-selling devices isn’t going to do a lot for their reputation. However, many people have moved on by now but still, it would be nice to see Samsung carry through on such things. Also, the Galaxy Tab 7.7 isn’t on the list something that’s a big mistake, that tablet was mighty pricey when it came out with its 1280×800 resolution AMOLED display. I’m sure a lot of people bought the tablet thinking it’d be something to hold on to for a while but it looks like it’s been sentenced to early retirement.
