Featured: Sony Xperia Acro S Comes Unlocked To The U.S., Offers Solid Performance And Nice Camera

Sony’s Xperia devices, while aren’t as popular as say Samsung and other manufacturers, always have, in my opinion, offered a nice change from other Android devices on the market. The designs, while there’s only so many ways to design a rectangle shaped phone, are nice to look at. Plus, the build quality is pretty good too.

One such Xperia device, the Xperia Acro S, has been on the Sony online store for a little while now marked as “Coming Soon”, but finally has went on sale for $599.99 completely unlocked of course. It’s an HSPA based phone and offers some solid specs.

  • 4.3-inch 1280 x 720 Mobile BRAVIA® Engine display that’s scratch and water resistant
  • 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Dual Core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB internal storage with microSD card support up to 32GB
  • 12.1 megapixel rear-facing camera
  • 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera
  • Bluetooth, DLNA, NFC capable
  • Up to 8 hour talk time
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

The Xperia Acro S is a mid-range phone and has plenty of performance for most users. If you want a quad-core powerhouse, well, you’ll want to look elsewhere, but if you’re looking for a solid performing unlocked phone with an especially nice camera, this looks like a device to definitely look into.

It’s also worth nothing that the phone can go from sleep to snapping a photo in about 1.5 seconds. You know, in case you see your cat doing something stupid.
