It’s always fun when a new device gets rooted. It starts to set the pace for development, like custom ROMs and Kernels. It appears that XDA Recognized Contributor, krabappel2548 has released an insecure kernel that will help users of the Xperia T get rooted. This insecure kernel includes:
- Autoroot
- Busybox
- Init.d support
- Insecure
- Debuggable
- CWM included
You’ll need the Android SDK to install this insecure kernel. Once the SDK is downloaded, you can download the kernel and place it in the same folder as ADB and Fastboot. There are two kernels available currently. One is for just rooting, the other is for root and recovery.
The Sony Xperia T has not yet been released, but it will be available on O2 in the UK. The device was expected to be released in September 2012, and since this is the last day of September it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. But we now know that as soon as you can pick up your Xperia T from O2, you’ll be able to root it. So let the development phase commence
So how long before we see CyanogenMod or AOKP on the Sony Xperia T? We’ll probably see unofficial builds in the next couple of weeks, or sooner. Anyone out there planning on picking up the Sony Xperia T?
