Android is becoming a serious gaming platform. The quality of the games available in the Play Store gets better and better every day. Take into consideration the TegraZone and PlayStation Mobile games available on many Android devices and that platform becomes even bigger. This is exactly what new San Francisco-based OEM Wikipad hopes to capitalize on with their upcoming gaming tablet, expected to see release on October 31st.
The tablet promises console-quality gaming and will debut at Gamestop stores nationwide. Pre-orders are currently available, and those who pre-order through Gamestop will get access to some unannounced free extras like full games. Geared towards professionals and serious gamers alike, the $499 tablet will feature an industry first; a plug-in game pad attachment. It will be capable of playing TegraZone and PlayStation Mobile games and will ship with a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 T30 1.4 GHz processor. It will have 1 GB of expandable memory and 16 gigabytes of internal flash storage. The tablet itself will be 8.6 millimeters thick with a 10.1 inch 1280×800 screen.
So what do you think? Will you get one? The dual analog stick setup will undoubtedly be good for games, and the Jelly Bean OS will be of use whenever it’s time to get work done. Will the Wikipad live up to its motto, “Work Hard, Play Hard”? Will the 10.1 inch tablet stand out at a time when 7 and 8.9 inch tablets are becoming increasingly popular? Only time will tell. Stay tuned as October 31st approaches for more.
