4G LTE Finally Comes To The UK, Available In 11 Cities Starting Today

4G LTE is a common occurrence here in the US. With the likes of Verizon and AT&T for example, you’ve got a pretty wide range of cities that are covered with T-Mobile and Sprint rolling out more coverage all the time.

Even though many of us may not think twice about, there’s other countries who don’t have access to such fast speeds. That is, until now. EE or Everything Everywhere, has finally launched their blazing fast LTE service in the UK and starting today, is available in 11 cities.

Those cities are…

  • Liverpool
  • Manchester
  • Leeds
  • London
  • Glasgow
  • Edinburgh
  • Birmingham
  • Sheffield
  • Cardiff
  • Bristol
  • Southampton

As far as pricing details, plans will start at £36 per month for unlimited calls, texts, and 500MB of data, and go all the way up to £56 per month for 8GB of data. Now, anyone can call a network 4G LTE, but how do the speeds stack up?

Let’s just say they stack up pretty well with Android Central managing to get speeds of 41.5mbps down and 16.6mbps down in London. That’s faster than most cable Internet connections. EE claims that their speeds can reach as high as 76mbps, though we’ll just have to take their word for it for now.

Fortunately, the carrier doesn’t plan on just stopping with these 11 cities. Their 4G rollout is expected to increase by 2,000 square miles every month. So there you have it, UK. 4G LTE speeds and currently some good phones to choose from.
