Who’s surprised at this? Well you shouldn’t be. ASUS is probably the number one Android tablet maker. This year alone they’ve introduced some great tablets, including the Transformer Pad TF300 and the Transformer Pad Infinity TF700. Not to mention they built the Google Nexus 7 which has been selling off the shelves, and Google just introduced a 32GB version as well as a 3G/HSPA+ version. Don’t forget the ASUS Padfone’s (1 and the newly announced Padfone 2). While ASUS does sell other products, these are the ones we know best.
Compared to 2011, ASUS has shipped almost three times the number of tablets. Increasing the number from 800,000 to 2.3 million. ASUS also recorded a 43% growth due to the increase in tablet sales. But what about the dollar figure? Well, last year ASUS raked in $160 million, compared to $230 million this year. Pretty big increase, and a pretty big amount of cash they are sitting on. This is all based on Q3 2011 compared to Q3 2012.
Onto some other numbers, for you numbers people. In the third quarter ASUS also gained NT$1.18 billion in one-time foreign-exchange translation. Compared to NT $75 million in the third quarter of last year. And last but not least, revenue is also up. Increasing from NT $102.04 billion to NT $111.44 billion.
So I guess it’s fair to say that ASUS is doing well, right? Considering their tablet shipments tripled year-over-year, I’d say that’s pretty good but I’m no analyst. But I do know that they are doing better than certain other Android manufacturers.
