Less than a week after Android 4.1.2 was pushed to AOSP and we started seeing OTA’s for the Nexus 7, Galaxy Nexus (GSM unlocked) and the Nexus S (GSM Unlocked), now Motorola and Google are working on Android 4.1.2 for the Wifi version of the XOOM. The Motorola XOOM is the only device supported by AOSP that is not a Nexus. So many people do think of it as a Nexus device since it’s basically a stock Android device and gets updates very quickly.
The soak test for Android 4.1.2 has started, but those who are not part of the soak testers can get a piece of Android 4.1.2 goodness as well. So before we go to how to install and download the latest build, it’s important that you are on build JDO03J or else you won’t be able to upgrade to Android 4.1.2 this way.
You can download Android 4.1.2, the same build that soak testers are currently receiving. Then simply follow these instructions from XDA.
Once you’ve got it installed, let us know in the comments how you are liking the update. Or you can just wait for the official roll out from Motorola and Google which should be happening sometime this week. Unless they find some bugs during the soak test.
