So, a couple of days ago a small-time fruit company stood up on stage and announced something about an iPad Mini? They marveled at how they had managed to make the screen 35% larger whilst keeping a resolution from yesteryear. This fruit company was really quite impressed with their effort but, that seems like par for the course with this company. When it came down to how much they were going to charge for this relatively simple piece of technology many were disappointed however, we weren’t surprised at all, they’ve been overpricing things for years now and with the iPad Mini at $329 it looks like nothing has changed. Where there’s a will there’s a way and a certain company in China has seen fit to bring you an iPad Mini, of sorts, for the low, low price of $99.
GooPhone have seen fit to bring us a version of the iPad Mini packing the following specs for just $99:
- 1.4Ghz dual-core CPU
- 1GB RAM
- 8GB of Storage
- 2MP rear-facing camera with 0.3 MP round-front
- 1024×768 8-inch display
As well as all this you’ll be getting Jelly Bean dressed up to look like iOS so, it turns out you don’t have to spend the earth to get up-to-date technology. All seriousness though, this is just yet another Chinese copy but it’s pretty amusing to see it go for so cheap. Personally, I think that’s the whole joke right there that you can get somethign truly comparable to the iPad Mini for a benjamin. Why don’t you take a look at the video below for more info?
