Nextbook has entered a new competitor into the ever increasing budget Android tablet market with the Nextbook Premium 10SE. Featuring a 9.7-inch TFT display and running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, Nextbook is hoping to capture customers who are looking for a relatively modern tablet but aren’t ready to dish out the big bucks. However, with the Nexus 7 boasting a smaller price tag, Android 4.1 Jellybean, and a more powerful system, does the Nextbook Premium 10SE stand a chance?
The 10Se features a bigger capacitive touch screen, 2.5-inches larger than the nexus, with 1028×768 resolution. It also comes with built-in Wi-Fi, as is expected, and a MicroSD slot capable of holding 32GB for expanding storage capacity to compliment the 8GB built-in. The battery is non-removable, though the company makes no claims about expected battery-life.
In an effort to court the older users who are making their first foray into the Android universe, the company is promoting the fact that their tablet is preloaded with Nook, and comes with 25 free e-books. A list of what e-books are included was not made available by the company.
Overall, this entry-level device is lacking in performance features, but demanding a fairly steep price. It may however find a market with first-time users and those looking for an e-reader replacement. You can check out the company video on the new product below:
