Featured: Rumored Sony Nexus Makes An Appearance, But Is It Legit?

The Nexus rumors have been hitting the blogosphere in droves lately and being that LG’s Nexus was shown off, this may not be the end of upcoming Google branded devices for the holiday season. Today, a Sony built Nexus appeared in some photos. Or that’s what it looks like.

Images of the so called Nexus showed up on Picasa and were tagged as “Nexus X” and “Xperia Nexus”. The images were taken with a Galaxy Nexus over the weekend. As far as if the phone is legit or not, we don’t really know for sure, but there’s a good chance that it’s a fake.

First of all, the Sony logo on the back is rather faded and there’s a weird bulge on the back of the phone towards the bottom. We’ve seen photoshop jobs before and this could be the work of a prankster. The phone does share some design traits similar to the Xperia Ion and Xperia S.

While it’s not a phone that’s been seen before, that doesn’t mean it’s in fact “coming soon”. There’s a chance that this so called Sony Nexus was simply a prototype device from Sony and even if the Google logo isn’t photoshopped, this could just be the tech giant simply testing their very own Nexus, but scheduled for a different release.

In the meantime, we’ll keep a close eye, but won’t be surprised if this phone turns out to be a fake.
