Huawei Honor 2 Announced: Quad-Core 4.5-inch Phone On A Budget

We all love having the latest and greatest when it comes to tech, right? Of course we do but, does that mean we should outstrip our budgets because of it? No, not really. There’s a saying, that you should only buy what you need. This has been true of people either looking to buy a PC or build one yourself: unless you can afford it don’t spend more than what you need. More recently, the idea has been applying to smartphones and with budget offerings that deliver decent enough power, more and more people are taking notice. Budget doesn’t always have to and shouldn’t, apply to cheaply made phones or devices. After all, the Nexus 7 is what you could call a budget device but, you don’t see many out there calling it cheap now do you?

Huawei are a company that can make well-priced phones and tablets that pack quite a bit of power into them without losing quality in the process. The Chinese company has been the press quite a bit later but, not for device announcement and launches. Now, however, they’re back with an announcement of a brilliantly priced quad-core Android smartphone. The Huawei Honor comes packing quite a bit and for those of you out there that aren’t sold on massive-sized phones this is one for you! Here’s what the Honor 2 has on offer:

  • 4.5″ 1280×720 IPS Display
  • Quad-Core K3V2 1.4Ghz CPU
  • 8GB onboard storage but room for a microSD card
  • 1GB of RAM with a 2GB variant in limited quantities
  • 8MP Camera with 1.3MP front-facing camera
  • 2230 mAh battery

Unfortunately, the Huawei Honor 2 is only announced for the Chinese market, which it’s coming to next month for around $300. I’d really like to see this come to the States as it’d make a fantastic device for MetroPCS, T-Mobile, US Cellular or any other carrier that needs more customers, this on a good data plan would bring a lot of people in. That’s hope that this is one device that does make the jump to the US.
