Android Tablets To Surpass iPad By Mid-2013, Says Analyst

Thanks to the increase in very affordable, yet very powerful tablets, Android has really taken off the last year or two. The iPad still remains King and with the iPad Mini recently coming out, it’s no surprise that Apple will remain number one this holiday shopping season.

According to a mobile industry analyst, Sameer Singh, Android will reach ahead of iOS in terms of tablets by mid-2013. For this holiday shopping season, Apple is said to get around 55% percent of the market, however, Android will start to bounce back by the next quarter.

It’s long been a battle between the two platforms and the fact is, Android has outpaced Apple in six out of eight previous quarters, a trend that if continues, will knock iOS and the line of iPads, out of the number one spot.

Android users shouldn’t get too cocky though. Although iPad market share dropped in the third quarter, they have no problem selling the iPad and iPad Mini like hotcakes and to be completely honest, some Android manufacturers have had pretty lackluster sales.

What’s really going to lead to growth of Android tablet market share isn’t necessarily the accumulation of every single tablet from every single manufacturer, but a select few at an unbeatable price point, the Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and line of Kindle Fire tablets.

Of course that’s just my opinion. Do you agree with this analyst’s findings? Here’s a couple more graphs after the jump.
