We all love games and, at the end of the day, we all have a little rage in us. So, put the two together and you can create a pretty satisfying game. Now if you were to throw in a quirky setting and some great gameplay you’ve got a really fun game on your hands. And that game is called Left Lane Looey Road Rage Racing. Read on to find out if Left Lane Looey is a game to stick with and something to pile the hours up in.
Description: CornDog App’s Left Lane Looey Road Rage Racing app puts you in the shoes of a Frozen Chicken delivery driver that is trying to make all his deliveries before they melt. It sounds easy right? Well, try doing it in when it’s rush hour and every type of bad driver you could imagine is out on the street. Through some crazy driving and questionable road ethics you have to help Looey get through all of the traffic in order to make his deliveries on time, and not blow his lid in the process. It’s a real fun looking game that offers some laughs in amongst the gameplay. Take a look at the trailer below to get a closer look:
How it Works: To get the app up and running, you’ll have to head over to the Play Store and download it – it’s worth noting that when you launch Left Lane Looey you’ll be prompted to download Adobe Air for free from Play Store.
What’s nice about Left Lane Looey is that the developers have seen fit to include a sort of walkthrough for the first time that you load up the game. A really nice touch, because it gets across the basics quickly and will help you figure out how to play quickly. As you can see from the screenshot below there are a number of controls to remember.
When looking to the left of the play screen there is a slider for changing lanes. The longer you go without hitting other cars the faster you go. You can also use Speed Bursts (like in the screenshot below) to help you go even faster so you can clear a good chunk of the level in little time. If you run into cars you slow down and, if you hit a LOT of cars, then your rage meter is going to go through the roof and Looey’s head will literally explode. To combat this you can drink “SereniTea” in order to calm Looey down. When looking to the left of the play screen there is a slider for changing lanes – it’s this that will help you keep up to speed as well – however, if you are to run into cars, and a lot of them, then your rage meter is going to go through the roof. If you keep Looey hot under the collar for too long then he’ll quite literally blow his top sooner than later. To combat this you can drink “SreniTea” in order to bring him down. Chaining this together with a Speed Burst can help you clear a good chunk of the level in little time.
Every turn you get a fresh batch of ammo, so you can blast other cars out of Looey’s way. Use Looey’s hammer to crush cars in your way, Looey’s Chicken Laser to fry cars in your path, Looey’s Chicken Wedge to push cars out of your way, and Looey’s ChickenZooka to fires frozen chickens that blow up cars in your way. You use coins that you drive over during the game to buy extra ammo or, if you want coins faster, go to Looey’s Store and buy some coins (they start at just $0.99 for 2,500 coins and go up to 200,000 coins for $19.99).
It can seem like a complicated game to get up and running with but the first few levels are really easy, which is great because it gives you a chance to get the hang of the game. After a few turns you should have it all figured out and then the game is a lot of fun and it all works really well… which is good because as you beat levels and get deeper into the game there are a LOT more drivers on the road that are determined to get in your way. The further you get into the game, the more challenging it becomes.
You can collect coins on your journeys and then buy more ammo and power-ups. Or, if you prefer, you can just buy coins… or buy the paid app to get 10,000 free coins and to not have ads (the free version has ads on the Loading screens). You’ve got to keep your head about you and make sure that you don’t get overwhelmed with it all, you can collect coins on your journeys and then buy more weapons and power-ups with them, however, it’s clear that it’s better to just buy coins – or the paid app to get 10,000 free.
Opinion: I think that Left Lane Looey works really well and has some really fun features in it. The gameplay is challenging and if you don’t pick your moments for speed boosts as well as the use of weapons then you can be left with a long ride ahead. I think the shop feature is a good addition and one of the better ways to approach free-to-play games. You can grind to earn coins or, if you’re impatient like me, you can either buy coins in the store or get the paid version of the app, which gives you 10,000 free coins with no ads to boot. If you’re in the mood for something a little different and just as original as games like Dead Trigger but don’t fancy the hassle of poor controls, then this is the game for you.
