Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.2 Leaked Jelly Bean Firmware – Some Galaxy Note 2 Features

The Android 4.1.2 update for Samsung Galaxy S3 users is expected sometime in December, but until then there’s a fresh leak of the upcoming firmware and there’s new information to analyze. Let’s take a look at what Samsung has in store for its S3 users.

  • Android 4.1.2 – JZO54K
  • Multi-View (Multi Windows Multitasking, same as in Note II)
  • Page Buddy
  • Notification Panel (Notification Panel can now be customized)
  • Smart Rotation (Screen Display adjusts to your angle of sightings)
  • Continues Input in Samsung Keyboard (Like Swipe or Android 4.2 Keyboard)
  • Paper Artist App (Same as in Note II)
  • New Gallery App (Same as in Note II)
As you can see, several of the updates bring Note II functions to the Galaxy S3. The Multi-View function allows users to use two separate apps at the same time by splitting the screen. Smart Rotation is another eagerly anticipated update, which will use the front facing camera to recognize the orientation of the users face and then adjusts the screen for optimal viewing. Paper Artist, a hugely popular feature on the Note II, allows users to make adjustments and changes to an image, of course without the stylus it may be a bit more difficult using a finger. Additionally, users can expect a virtual QWERTY closely resembling Swype.

The leak came from an Israeli carrier, and is available on SourceLink and HotFile. SamMobile broke with the leaked firmware, but they had several warnings for users thinking of making the switch early.

WARNINGS:

We want to give you BIG warnings if you want to test this firmware. We have repackaged this firmware into an ODIN Flashable firmware ourselves from the dump files we took from Saturn’s device. This Firmware is already pre-rooted as Saturn had rooted his device before we knew that he had this new TEST Firmware. This firmware will increase your binary counter, if you don’t know what this means then don’t flash this firmware. This Firmware will also change your device status to Modified. This firmware doesn’t contain any Modem so the Modem you are using before flashing this firmware will remain. This is a PRE-RELEASE version so not official from KIES. As this is a PRE-RELEASE firmware so expect some minor bugs.
We have FULLY TESTED this firmware and this firmware works perfectly as any other official firmware.

Remember this isn’t an officially signed release of the firmware by Samsung, so there are inherent risks with using it on your device. With the update only a month away, is it worth the risk? That’s up to each user, but if you do make the update we want to hear about your results!
