Lenovo Set to Compete with the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD; Unveils the P770 with 3,500mAh Battery

Seems like no one has been able to match Motorola and their Droid Razr Maxx and now the Droid Razr Maxx HD. The only phone that has come close to the Maxx’s battery size is the Note 2, but it also has a much larger screen which means battery life won’t be as good as the Maxx.  But it looks like Lenovo is going to give it a go now. Today, Lenovo launched their P770 which features a massive 3,500mAh battery. Which is larger than the Droid Razr Maxx HD’s battery. Lenovo claims the battery will last through 29 hours of talk time and 644 standby hours, which is the equivalent of 26 days. Now that’s how batteries should be for Android devices. Here are the full specs:

  • 4.5″ 960 x 540 IPS Display
  • dual-core 1.2GHz processor
  • 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, all the normal stuff
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 4GB internal storage
  • 5MP rear-facing camera; VGA front-facing camera

So it’s not the most high-end device. But for those looking for a phone that will last you for days, this will get the job done. While it is a dual-core processor and only 1GB of RAM it is still capable of just about everything you throw its’ way.

Currently the Lenovo P770 is only available in China, lucky Chinese! And it’ll cost about 1,699 CNY, which is equivalent to $273 USD. So not a bad price at all for a massive battery. It’s currently unknown if Lenovo will be offering this device in other regions of the world.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’d sure like to see this at CES next month in Las Vegas. This would be a great phone for MetroPCS, or Boost Mobile. Especially if it’s already on one of China’s CDMA carriers. While the specs won’t make it a top-seller, that battery certainly will. As we’ve seen with the Droid Razr Maxx and Droid Razr Maxx HD from Motorola, to bad those two devices are Verizon-only.

If the Lenovo P770 was available in the US, would you pick one up? Or do you not trust Lenovo Android devices? Let us know in the comments.
