When it comes to Android tablets, it’s always nice to be able to truly take them anywhere and everywhere. However, this isn’t always that easy as a lot of the tablets on offer don’t come packing 3G or LTE and tethering is more than like frowned upon by your carrier. How about a tablet packing LTE then? Yeah, that’d make a whole lot more sense. The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is headed to Sprint with LTE onboard, making checking your e-mails at the coffee shop probably faster than the shop’s WiFi. Not to mention, Netflix everywhere is a more attractive option with the inclusion of LTE.
If I’m honest, I see these two as strange pairings. The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 isn’t all that good a tablet and Sprint’s LTE network isn’t all that great either. However, if you have no need for the latest and greatest when it comes to processing power or gaming then this is gonna be great. You’ll have to make sure you’re in an area that is covered by Sprint’s limited LTE coverage. If you don’t know what the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is packing – beside an awkward name – then here are the specs below:
- 10.1″ 1280 x 800 LCD
- 1.5GHz dual-core processor – more than likely a Snapdragon S4
- 1GB of RAM
- 3 megapixel camera on the back and a VGA camera on the front
- Android 4.0 with TouchWiz
As for pricing, the device is going to cost a hefty $549.99 on Sprint and then you’ll be paying anything from $39.99 for 3GB of data up to $79.99 for 12GB of data. What you need to ask yourself however, is LTE really worth it when it comes to a ten inch tablet? Nine times out of ten there’s free WiFi at the coffee shop and if you’re going to be getting work done on the move you more than likely have a laptop that serves all your needs and then some. It is god to see that Sprint are providing an LTE tablet option however, the prices are pretty steep for that amount of data and with a lot of users happy with their phones I don’t know how well this is going to do.
