Nexus 10 16GB 'Sold Out' in US

Have you checked out the 16GB Nexus 10 page on Google Play lately? If not, and you were planning on making a purchase, then we have some bad news. The last of the available Nexus devices in the US has finally sold out, and despite the fact that Google Play asks you to check back soon it’s probably going to be up to three weeks if Google planned out the distribution as well as they did with the Nexus 4.

It’s been a bumpy release for the newest generation of Nexus devices, and that’s putting things fairly politely. Immediate Play store problems led to a headache inducing experience for many early adopters who waited impatiently for the sales to go live. Users experienced instant sold-out notifications, multiple charges for the same device, trouble with Google Wallet, and now e-mails stating that backorders can take up to three weeks to process. The Nexus 4 was the first device to sell out, followed by the 32GB Nexus 10. The Nexus 7 3G was the next to go, and finally the 16GB Nexus 10.

There’s no official word from the company as to when more items should be expected in stock for those still waiting to place their order. The Nexus launch has been massive, despite its technical flaws, and Google apparently vastly underestimated the anticipation of the Nexus series. Or, some analysts are claiming that this is merely a false scarcity, at least with some of the devices that didn’t sell out immediately. More likely, it’s a combination of logistic problems and unanticipated demand. Prospective Nexus buys can only sit and wait for now, hitting refresh compulsively.
