Press Photos of HTC Deluxe DLX Breakout; Droid DNA for the Rest of the World

While Android Headlines has a predominantly US readership, I’m here in ol’ blighty and I find myself covering phones that may never make it across the pond and I’m always left wanting. It was the OG Droid and the EVO 4G that first turned me on to Android, both devices that never made it to the UK. We did get the EVO 3D but, that’s not saying much is it? By then I had settled and wished for a big screen device like the EVO, it took some time for phones of that size to make it to Europe.

Imagine how envious I was when the Butterfly J was announced for Japan and nowhere else, that I could live with but, when it was announced as the Droid DNA for Verizon, my CDMA envy set in hard and I was wondering when we would hear from HTC about an international release of the phone. After all, it would be strange for HTC to get hardware as nice as this into the US alone. Well, we might not have heard from HTC themselves but there are now some leaked images of what look like official press photos of the HTC Deluxe DLX, apparently the international name for the Droid DNA.

This is also the first time that we’ve seen the device in white, which looks a little strange and the silver accents looks something similar to what HTC did with the white HTC Desire a couple of years ago. Once again, it looks like Beats Audio is here to stay and we hope the amplifier makes the jump as well. Just like the Droid DNA the HTC Deluxe DLX should come with the following internals:

  • SLCD3 1080p with a mind-blowing 440ppi density
  • Qualcomm S4 Pro 1.5GHz quad-core CPU
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 8MP camera rear-facing camera capable of 1080p at 30fps
  • f/2.0 2.1 MP Front-facing camera capable of 720p
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with Sense 4+ on top
  • 4G LTE
  • 2.5v headset and speaker amplifier with Beats Audio
  • 2020 mAh Battery
  • 9.1mm thin

It’s certainly a device that I’m looking forward to and it could well replace my One X instead of the Nexus 4 that seems unobtainable by most across the globe. With its 1080p display and the S4 Pro CPU this is certainly an appealing device and we should be seeing more of it come MWC next February, hopefully it won’t take too long to get across the pond and hit Europe, perhaps a shock launch before Christmas is possible?
