We’ve been hearing a lot about some new 5″ 1080p devices from Sony that should be coming out early next year. There is also another variant of the Odin, at least according to leaks. Which is the Sony Yuga and is set to be a Japanese exclusive while the Odin would see an International launch. Possibly being announced at CES or Mobile World Congress in the beginning of 2013. If the Odin does get announced at either of those events, we certainly hope that it will be released shortly after. Instead of having a long wait before it gets released.
We have a couple of images in this post that appear to be from the Sony Odin. At least according to its EXIF data. The one above was captured by the Sony C6503 and the one below was taken by the Sony C6502. These pictures surfaced on Picasa yesterday, and of course they have both been removed now.
There’s not a whole lot we can tell from these images as far as the quality of the cameras on these devices. But they don’t look bad in my opinion. For those that haven’t been following the rumored specs of the Sony Odin, here’s what has been leaked so far:
- 5-inch 1080p Display
- quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor
- 2GB of RAM
- 131.6 x 69.7 x 9.8mm
- 147 grams in weight
These specs are starting to become normal for newer devices. The Snapdragon S4 Pro and 2GB of RAM are pretty common these days. They are both in the Nexus 4, and the Droid DNA, as well as rumored in many other devices we should be seeing at CES next month in Las Vegas.
If these spec’s are true and the Sony Odin comes with 16GB or higher of storage it could be a real contender next year. Hopefully it’ll see a US launch. But if it does, it’ll more than likely be an AT&T-exclusive which needs to change. If Sony really wants to get back in the game, they need to put this device on more than just one carrier.
