Samsung have been doing pretty well this past year, with shipments of phones being higher than ever before and some inspiring sales number from their Q3 earnings. The South Korean giant made $7.4 Billion in profits this past quarter and shipped 57 Million smartphones. These figures are simply remarkable and not that far behind Apple’s figures for the quarter at $8.2 Billion profit. All in all, Samsung have had a stellar quarter and it looks like Q4 could be even better with the holiday season just getting started.
Smartphones aren’t the only things that Samsung make of course, and the Electronics company is now looking to rise their tablet sector up from the depths to bring in new growth for the company. When it comes to tablets, Samsung aren’t the big player that they are in the smartphone sector of course, everyone that makes a tablet has to compete with Apple and the iPad however, Samsung had a successful year with the Galaxy Tab line last year. 2012 hasn’t been so kind to the Korean company and until the Galaxy Note 10.1 hit the scene there was little compelling about their offerings when it came to tablet computers.
An analyst from Dongbu Securities had the following to say of Samsung’s tablet market share “They’re making tangible progress in the tablet business . For the third quarter alone, Samsung likely sold about four million tablets, of which two million came solely from the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet,”. It looks like the Note 10.1 has been more than a successful device for the company and with them having shipped two other tablets – the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 – it doesn’t look good for these other models.
With the Nexus 10 however, the company is making progress into the high-end tablet game once again, with a stunning 2560 x 1600 display and the new Exynos 5 series CPU it’s a power house, indeed. There’s a whole lot to love about the tablet and even though it’s only been confirmed for sale online in the Google Play Store it’s almost certain that it’ll follow the Nexus 7 into brick and mortar stores. With such a stunning display and some unique design cues, the Nexus 10 could be a real winner for Samsung and Google alike.
