It really seems like true HD, 1080p displays are becoming the norm around here. First started with the HTC J Butterfly and Droid DNA, which has a 1080p display and 441 pixels per inch. Now we’ve been seeing rumors from other manufacturers like Sony and Samsung that they will be showing off some 1080p devices soon. A 1080p resolution is 1920×1080 which is a lot of pixels. The Sharp Aquos SH930W is supposedly only going to be released in Russia and Hong Kong. But we can still take a look at these specs.
The Sharp Aquos SH930W is going to be running:
- 5-inch 1080p display
- 1.5GHz dual-core processor
- 2GB of RAM
- 8MP rear camera, 2MP front-facing camera
- 32GB internal storage
- 2100mAh battery
- Measuring at 138.92×71.48×9.1mm
- Android 4.1 – Jelly Bean
- Will cost 4,488 HKD and 21,990 RUB which translates to about $712 USD
Based on those specs, it’s pretty good. Even though it’s running a dual-core processor and the same battery as the Galaxy S3 which is a 720p display Sharp has also put together some promotional material comparing their new phone to the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2, HTC One X+ and the LG Optimus Vu.
Based on the picture above, it actually looks like a pretty good device. Specs don’t look to bad either as we just talked about. To bad this thing is only confirmed to be coming to two different markets right now. Hopefully Sharp will bring this to more markets soon. Sure it’ll do well in the US on T-Mobile or even AT&T. That way they don’t have to mess with CDMA at all.
Overall not a bad-looking device. Where Sharp is known for their TV’s, they can probably make a pretty good-looking display for Android devices. But we’ll have to take our Russian and Chinese friends word for how good it is for now, unless Sharp does decide to bring it overseas to the US. What are your thoughts on the Sharp SH930W?
