Yesterday was undeniably a day all for Google, with Android 4.2 finally hitting the world thanks to the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 10 but, with some phones out there, getting Jelly Bean in its 4.1 flavor is only just happening. This time around it’s the Galaxy S III on T-Mobile’s network that is getting treated to 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. When it comes to the crop of phones that went on sale earlier in the year, the S III is one of the first to get its update to Jelly Bean. While Sprint may have already beaten T-Mobile to the punch it doesn’t look like the T-Mobile version was that far behind. After all, it’s nice to see a phone on T-Mobile get updated at all, am I right?
Apparently the update is ready to go through Kies as well as working its way to users over the air but right now there’s little to go by. The update will come with all of the features that we saw being unveiled earlier in the Summer at Google I/O as well as some of Samsung’s extras bolted into TouchWiz, such as:
- Reorganized settings menu
- 2 Home screen modes – a new “easy mode” is added to help customization
- New Notifications bar bringing expandable notifications
- Google Now
- -Re-Sizable Pop-up play screen
If you want to know specifics of the update then take a look below:
Android Version: Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean – Build JRO03L
PDA: T999UVDLJA
CSC: T999TMBDLJA
Modem: T999UVDLJA
Build Date: 2012-10-20
As for just when you’ll be able to get your hands on the update, it should be pretty soon, I think T-Mobile will want to get this out to users as soon as possible but in the mean time you can keep on eye on Samsung’s Kies Twitter page here and wait for some good news.
