AH Show #21 – Exynos-gate, HTC M7, Sony Yuga, YOTA, Monster Phones, Ingress and More!

It’s time for our Christmas special podcast – we might be a little early but, that’s just how we roll here at Android Headlines. This week there’s been a lot to talk about, with some interesting rumors coming out surrounding new devices and such. If you thought that the Note II at 5.5-inches was big then Huawei’s massive 8.5-inch prototype is something that will really shock you. A device at that size would look pretty comical when raised to your ear, that’s for sure. Keeping up with larger devices, there’s been fresh rumors out of Korea that Samsung will be bringing the Note III to market with a whopping 6.3-inch display. Bringing the Note III to market with such a large display is something that could alienate Note II owners that might see the device as a successor to the Note II. We doubt Samsung will be making such a large Note but, it would be Fall 2013 before we see anything concrete on the device.

Over the last day or so we’ve covered an exploit left in the Kernel Sources for devices running on Samsung’s Exynos 4210 and 4412 processors that leaves the phone open to read and write access throughout devices running these processors. The exploit was discovered by an XDA forum member – as was the fix – and Samsung have simply said that they are carrying out an internal investigation into the exploit. Hopefully we will hear more from the company concerning updates to fix the problem etc.

Despite some technical difficulties there was some time for Doug and Alex to talk about Ingress and some of the recent happenings that have been going on. Look out for more coverage on Ingress throughout the site!

Both HTC and Sony seem to be on the way back to bringing stunning devices to market. With the rumored “M7″ HTC are apparently going to bring a 4.7” Full HD device to market with a 1.7Ghz quad-core CPU and 2GB of RAM, all this with a 13MP camera as well. Sony, meanwhile, have some more crazy rumors surrounding their upcoming “Yuga” device – said to be packing a 5″ display at 1080p, a possible 128GB of internal storage and a 3000 mAh battery. All of this and more will be heading to press events at the beginning on next year, with CES starting at the very beginning of January and MWC following up at the end of February it looks like the first half of 2013 will be an exciting time indeed, when it comes to mobile.
