BLU, a smartphone manufacturer based in Miami, Florida, released their budget Vivo 4.3 phone to great success, primarily in Latin America, just a few months ago. Now, they’re looking to capitalize on that success with a follow-up device with improved specs and a larger display. BLU is calling the Vivo 4.65 the “big brother” to the already popular Vivo 4.3, which as the name implies had a smaller screen that the latest release. What else will this new family member be packing?
- 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED
- Dual-Core 1.2GHz MediaTek MT6577
- 8MP Rear Camera
- 1GB RAM
- “True Dual-Sim Technology”
- Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0
The MediaTek processor may come as a disappointment to some users, especially since this is simply a higher clocked version of the same processor that existed in the last Vivo phone. Not to mention the reputation that MediaTek currently has for producing sub-par chipsets, though that is a perception they’re currently trying to destroy as they try to convince major manufacturers that they have the ability and capacity to compete with companies like Qualcomm. The dual-sim technology is a nice addition, especially since users will be able to have two numbers on the same device, and receive calls on either number at the same time. The device comes unlocked, and the suggested MSRP is set at $299.99. BLU expects to start shipping to major U.S. retailers next month, with shipments to Latin America and China following soon after.
