Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy S2 Jelly Beans Delayed until 2013?

Well here’s some bad news for those of you with the Samsung Galaxy S2 or the original Galaxy Note. It appears that Samsung has now delayed the Android 4.1.2 update for these devices until next year. Although Samsung hasn’t said when in 2013 they’ll be rolling out, we do know that 2013 is less than 2 weeks away now. So hopefully we’ll see these updates in January 2013. About a month ago a leaked Android 4.1.2 ROM for the Galaxy S2 was leaked, and it was fairly stable. Leading users to wonder when it’ll be pushed out via OTA. So what could have delayed it?

Well it’s probably not completely due to the Exynos-gate that we broke over the weekend. But that is probably a big reason for the delay. But due to this Exynos vulnerability, that does affect both of these devices, you’ll probably want to play it safe and wait for Samsung to either push the fix or push the Jelly Bean update. Hopefully the fix for this exploit will get pushed out in the next week or less.

Like we said above, Samsung is just saying next year. But that is a rather broad time frame. Our best guess would be sometime in Q1, especially seeing as the latest leak of the Jelly Bean update was extremely stable. So that’s the bad news. The good news is that the update is still coming. At least Samsung hasn’t completely scrapped the update, or pull a Motorola. Of course Samsung has sold to many Galaxy S2’s and Galaxy Note’s to just do alienate their millions of customers with those devices.

So who’s upset about this turn of events in the Jelly Bean update? I know I would be, especially after the Exynos exploit that was discovered over the weekend. But I guess patching that should be the first priority for the Korean manufacturer.
