Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Treated to Jelly Bean Update in The UK

Samsung are continuing their drive towards getting all of their devices up-to-date and this time around, they’re treating the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 to Jelly Bean. Specifically, the 4.1.1 flavor of Jelly Bean. A lot of people have been waiting for the update and it’s now finally here.

That is, if you live in the UK which for those in the States might not mean anything to you but, this is a sign that Samsung are ready to roll the update out all over the world real soon. If you’re in the UK and have the WiFi model, you can check for the update now or you can go ahead and update it through Samsung’s KIES software platform. We’re really not sure why Samsung continue to hold onto KIES as it’s not very popular and there always seem to be a multitude of problems surrounding it. I’m sure that a lot of us would rather just deal with an OTA update but, from Samsung, an update is more than enough we would say.

There doesn’t appear to be anything extra added to the Jelly Bean update but, it should help to speed the project up through Project Butter and there are, of course, the added expandable notifications.

The Tab 2 10.1 now joins the ranks of the few Android tablets that have been updated to Jelly Bean which includes ASUS’ Transformer Prime, TF300 and the TF700 as well Samsung’s Note 10.1 and the Tab 2 7.0. It’s good to see that Samsung are keeping up the pace when it comes to updates and especially when it comes to the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 which has always seemed the runt of the litter in the wake of the Note 10.1. Let us know if you’ve gotten the update and let us know if it’s gone any better than some of Samsung’s other updates.
