Late last week, OUYA developer units started shipping out. We knew it would only be a matter of time before we’d see some videos about the gaming console. And thanks to the developer behind the game Deadly Dungeons, gives us a series of videos where we can see everything we want to know about OUYA including what the UI looks like. Now we’ll get to see exactly how “Beta” OUYA truly is.
The first video at the end of this post shows off the interface. Which is probably the most interesting part of the console. It does look pretty awesome and as you watch the 17-minute video, you’ll find bits and pieces of the Android OS that look all to familiar. Including the WiFi screen and browser. But the question here is why did they choose the phone UI instead of the tablet UI for OUYA? You’d think the tablet UI would look better.
The OUYA dev units do not come with games, other than a test build of something and whatever the developer decides to put on the console. In the videos below you do get to see a sneak peek of the gameplay of Deadly Dungeons, which is a pretty good idea, since many people are going to be wanting to watch these videos. Basically it’s free publicity for Deadly Dungeons.
It also looks like the controller doesn’t have a Start, Select or Menu button, and since this is running Android, that could turn into a problem. But since this is beta, hopefully that’ll change soon, and before it becomes publicly available. There is also a section for “Store” which I would assume is where you would download all your games. Currently Google Play isn’t on OUYA, but it’ll be interesting to see if it ever gets the Play Store.
Sit back and enjoy the videos below, let us know in the comments below what you think of the OUYA Console.
