Rogers of Canada just amended their Jelly Bean upgrade table which pertains to devices using their service. The schedule was changed early yesterday in the community forums, by an authorized Rogers rep.
Several new additions have been made to the list, and some pre-existing devices have been updated with a more realistic schedule. Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy SII LTE will now see a Jelly Bean update in “late January”.
The first Samsung Galaxy Note will receive an update in “early January,” and hopefully you already know that the Samsung Galaxy SIII LTE update is already available.
New additions to the list include the Motorola RAZR HD and the Sony Xperia T-LT30a, both of which have an estimated “late January” release time for the Jelly Bean update. Last, but not least, is the HTC One X which will see an update in “early January”.
All of the aforementioned devices will be receiving the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update. As always, “release dates are subject to change.”
“This schedule includes all OS releases where tentative dates are available. We will update often as information is available.”
Clearly, that’s the most amount of information that Rogers is willing to give consumers. These vague release schedules are pathetic on all accounts, but every carrier practices using them. Naturally, this is because software updates can see any number of significant issues or bugs that could otherwise hinder an exact release date. Personally, I believe that if these carriers were to establish an actual release date, instead of an unusually broad time frame, they would be forced to pushed the updates out much faster.
It is what it is, however. At least, now Motorola RAZR HD, Sony Xperia T-LT30a, and HTC One X owners know they’ll be getting an update.
