LG Bringing Full HD Displays for 5-inch Phone and 7-inch Tablet to CES

Around this time of year we all know the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is coming, and it’s usually a pretty exciting time, or so I thought from past years.  It would seem this year that there is not much worthwhile coming to CES, and maybe that is because it’s all been released already. We had the Nexus 4, Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC Droid DNA, and the massive Galaxy Note 2.

However, word is that LG are bringing some promising devices to this upcoming CES event.  We all know that when the Android community got wind of the LG Nexus 4 people twisted and turned at the fact that LG was the manufacturer, but many warmed up to it and it’s still currently one hot device as it’s not available anywhere because it’s constantly out of stock at Google’s Play Store. We also had the Optimus Vu, which was LG’s first 5-inch – with a 4:3 aspect ratio – debut phablet, but it didn’t go as well as planned.

Come January, LG is reported to be showing a 5.5 inch phone with no known specs, and all that is known about the device is that the screen will be Full HD (1920 x 1080/403 ppi). This device will have some competition at CES since the ZTE Grand S and Huawei Ascent Mate 6.1 will be showing themselves at the event.

The ‘rumor’ is that LG will be bringing this 5.5 inch phone to CES to not only show its display, but to “possibly launch” the device. This could sound exciting however, I for one am not too thrilled with LG products so I am interested to see what comes of this should it hold up to be true.

The other part is LG will also be bringing a 7 inch display that will have a 1080p resolution and 324 ppi. This display would outdo the Nook HD, which is currently 1440 x 900 with 243 ppi. Is LG in the making of a 7 inch tablet? It’s quite possible, and I’m sure it would be priced fairly cheap, but that is my own speculation and thoughts and I could be wrong.

The last part is another rumor is that LG is “prepping a new 4.7 inch display that will come with 1mm thin bezel.” This would make it look similar to the Nexus 4 and Optimus G, but consist of a narrower body.  Interesting rumor, but I’m still not convinced that it will be anything spectacular.

These all sound like solid devices and rumors right? However, I’m starting to see the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 overtake the LG Nexus 4 causing current Nexus 4 owners to sell their devices to either get a Note 2 or S3. So this all really heightens my curiosity to see how these devices pan out should anything be released.

What do you think? Do you think LG will have what it takes to “woo” and “ahhh” the Android community and provide solid products?
