Oppo's Find 5 Not Making a Stop in Europe

If you’re in Europe and are holding out hope that the Oppo Find 5 will be making it’s way to your shores then I have some unfortunate news for you, It’s not coming. A company spokesman confirmed today that they currently have no plans to sell the device on the continent.

The second phone to ever be released with a full HD display has created a lot of buzz in the android community of late. And why wouldn’t it given the full list of specs:

  • 5-inch display with 1920×1080 pixels,  including a 441 ppi pixel density
  • Quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor
  • 13 MP camera with “stacked” sensor and 120 fps video capture with HDR video capabilities
  • Front-facing 1.9-megapixel camera
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • 16 GB of internal storage (not expandable)
  • 2,500 mAh capacity battery
  • Dirac HD audio
  • NFC
  • Android 4.1

Oppo says that they have also spent a lot of time on the design of this phone, but its tough to tell from just the pictures. The Oppo Find 5 combines a thin 3.25mm bezel, a black chrome-plated stainless steel front-frame and a 8.9mm thick squared case. They also say that the Find 5 uses straight lines and simple shapes to remove distractions without compromising build quality.

This phone is designed to directly rival Samsung’s Galaxy Note series and the HTC Droid DNA in the “phablet” category, and stats wise it competes nicely. That’s not even mentioning the extremely attractive price point, $500 US with no contract. The one thing about this phone that give me any reservations at all is that the company is new to the smartphone business having made their bones making Blu-ray players and HiFi systems, otherwise on paper this thing is a beast.

I’m curious what our European readers think of this device. Will you be waiting for a possible future release over there or maybe picking the Find 5 through a third party re-seller  Will you be picking up a similar device like the Note II or the HTC Butterfly? Or are you like me and find these things getting too damn big? Let us know in the comments.
