It looks like Google is still heavily rebuilding the new Motorola. News is coming out today that Brian Wallace, Vice President of Strategic Marketing at Samsung US, has been hired by Motorola. Wallace is the one that’s credited for those Samsung ads taking aim at Apple users. “Aw we just got Samsunged!” Is my favorite one. Wallace has been said to be filling a similar post at Motorola, so we may see some similar commercials with Motorola aiming Apple users now. Google declined to comment, but we assume Brian Wallace will be in charge of marketing Motorola devices and services, naturally.
Wallace only joined Samsung a year ago, and was previously an employee at RIM (Research In Motion) as Vice President of Global Digital Marketing for the Blackberry manufacturer. With this new hire for Motorola, taking away one of Samsung’s big time employees, and the recent rumors of Motorola and Google working on an X Phone and X Tablet, it’ll be pretty interesting to see what Motorola and Google has up their sleeves come 2013. It’s definitely going to be an interesting year for Motorola and Google.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’d love to see both Motorola and Samsung releasing commercials targeting die-hard Apple fans. Sometimes it’s just to easy to make fun of them. And with LG already starting to market the same way, it’s going to be pretty fun come 2013. Do you think Motorola can make a comeback in 2013? I think they’ve done a pretty good job in the second-half of 2012. Releasing the Droid Razr M, HD and Maxx HD on Verizon along with the Atrix HD on AT&T and the Photon Q on Sprint. With 4 of those phones already having Android 4.1 rolled out, and the Photon Q is next, it’s a huge improvement over the Motorola of the past. Like the Droid Bionic taking nearly 12 months to get an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich.
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m certainly interested to see what this “X Phone and Tablet” are going to be and how they’ll be marketed. We’ve already seen Motorola’s new custom skin, and it looks a lot like stock Android with a few cool enhancements. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
