When the Nexus 4 was announced, we heard from our UK friends that O2 would have a month-long exclusivity. Well that month is now over, and Three now has the Nexus 4 on sale. They launched the device this morning, and it’s on sale for £35 per month on a 24-month “One-Plan” which includes 2,000 minutes, 5,000 Three-to-Three minutes, 5,000 Texts and unlimited “all you can eat” data. There’s also an up-front charge of £29 for the Nexus 4, if you’re looking to buy it on-contract.
It’s been a little while since the Nexus 4 was announced, almost 6 weeks now. So let’s refresh your memory with the specs:
- 4.7-inch 1280×768 resolution Super IPS+ display
- Quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro
- 2GB of RAM
- 8GB or 16GB of internal storage
- 2100mAh battery
- Android 4.2
The Nexus 4 also supports the HSPA+ 42mbps network that Three has (and T-Mobile US network). While you probably won’t see speeds at 42mbps, it’ll probably be closer to 20-25mbps that I get from T-Mobile here in the US on my Nexus 4. But that’s still plenty fast to do just about everything you need to do on your Nexus 4. Currently Three UK isn’t selling the Nexus 4 on Pay As You Go online. Which means if you were looking to just buy the phone outright and not be tied to a contract, you’re out of luck…for now. Currently we don’t know if Three has any plans to make the Nexus 4 available on Pay As You Go plans or not, but we hope to find out more information about that soon.
So if you’re still waiting to pick up a Nexus 4, and you don’t want a contract there are some alternatives. First of all there’s the Play Store, although you’ll probably have to wait a bit to get your device. Then there’s this little giveaway that we are doing here at Android Headlines. Make sure you enter our Nexus 4 Giveaway, because you know you can’t win if you don’t enter.
So who’s heading over to Three to pick up a Nexus 4 today? Let us know in the comments.
