That’s right, two more devices have joined the CyanogenMod 10.1 family. Currently the only ones with official CM10.1 nightlies are the Nexus 4, Nexus 10, Transformer Pad Infinity, and now the Verizon Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus 7 3G. For Verizon Galaxy Nexus owners, this the day you’ve been waiting for. A semi-Stable Android 4.2.1 ROM for your device. As I’m sure you know Verizon won’t have the OTA out for another 3-4 months. But those aren’t the only devices to get CM 10.1 nightlies today. The following devices also have CM 10.1 nightlies as of writing this:
- Sprint Galaxy Nexus
- Samsung Galaxy S3 (International)
- Samsung Galaxy S2 (International)
So not a whole lot of devices have CM 10.1 nightlies yet, but at least the ball is rolling. We should see more devices getting builds in the next few days as their maintainers give the signal to the build bot. CyanogenMod 10.1 isn’t completely stable and there will be bugs among other noticeable things like bad battery life, but if you’re looking for the most up-to-date version of Android on your device, then CyanogenMod is for you. And those of you with the Nexus 7 3G, you probably just want more customization and that’s why you want CyanogenMod 10.1 on your device. Either way it’s now available.
So if you’re looking for download links, well they are down below, or you can just head to your favorite developer forum like XDA or Rootzwiki and find CyanogenMod 10.1 threads there. Which is probably a good idea to do anyways. There you can report bugs and see what other users have found with the ROM. It’s really a good resource. Make sure when you’re flashing this new nightly that you also flash the latest GApps, which work with Android 4.2.1. If not, you’ll boot up with no Play Store, no way to add a Google Account and a bunch of other functionality missing. And that’s never fun.
If you decide to go ahead and flash this nightly, let us know in the comments below how it works out for you.
