If you’re a Verizon customer with a Galaxy S3 feel free to join me in saying “Finally!!!”. Yes finally, Verizon and Samsung are rolling out the Jelly Bean update for the Verizon branded Galaxy S3. It’s been a long road for those with you with the Verizon Galaxy S3, including the locked bootloader fiasco. But finally Jelly Bean is here. So what else comes in the update? Quite a bit actually. Let’s go through the new features you’re Galaxy S3 will be getting in the update.

- Galaxy S3 becomes ISIS-ready
- Touchwiz bug fixes and performance tweaks
Nothing too big outside of Jelly Bean, other than ISIS being added to your device. But then we saw that one coming right? Since Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile are all backing ISIS and have had it installed on most of their devices already.
So if you haven’t already received the update, go into Settings, hit About Phone and Check for updates. The roll out is staggered so you may not be able to grab it right away. It may be a day or two before you can get the taste of Touchwiz Jelly Bean. But it’ll be worth it. We’ve got the full press release from Verizon down below.

Samsung Galaxy S® III Upgrades to Jelly Bean
Samsung Galaxy S® III is the next Verizon Wireless smartphone to be upgraded to Androidâ„¢ 4.1, Jelly Bean. The software upgrade, which will be pushed to customers in phases starting Dec. 14, also makes the smartphone Global Ready. Customers who would like to manually download the upgrade through the settings menu will be able to within the next week.
Jelly Bean includes enhancements and new features like Google Nowâ„¢, which can be accessed by holding down on the home button, along with a new notification panel that displays missed calls and emails and lets customers return the call or email right from the notification.
Customers will also notice enhanced camera capabilities. The camera now includes, new live camera filters to add a touch of art to their pictures. Users can choose different filters such as warm vintage, cold vintage, black and white, sepia, color highlights (blue, green, red/yellow). Another new camera feature allows users to pause and resume while recording video so they can record it all in one take.
Additionally, the new software will make the Samsung Galaxy S III the next ISIS-ready smartphone. Austin, Texas, and Salt Lake City are the first cities to take advantage of ISIS and customers in those areas will be able to turn their phones into mobile wallets to make payments wirelessly at various retailers.
