Just last week, Samsung began pushing Android 4.1.1 – Jelly Bean to the Galaxy Tab 2 7 and 10.1 in the US. And of course, those with the Galaxy Note 10.1 were not happy about that. But today is their lucky day. It’s been reported that Android 4.1.2 is now pushing out to the Galaxy Note 10.1, model number N8013, and this is the Wi-Fi only version. Since the Verizon version isn’t yet available. So instead of pushing Android 4.1.1 to the Galaxy Note 10.1, Samsung is doing one better and pushing the latest build of Android 4.1 to the Galaxy Note 10.1. For those interested, the build is JZO54K.
As usual there is no changelog for this update, but by now we know what Jelly Bean brings to the table. Here’s what you can expect from this update
- Google Now
- Project Butter – making the OS most buttery and smoother than ever
- Expandable notifications
- Touchwiz improvements and bug fixes.
Like we said, this only for the Wi-Fi version of the Galaxy Note 10.1. It is now pushing out via OTA, and is also available through Kies, if you have enough patience to use Kies. To grab the update, you can do the following:
- Go into Settings
- Tap on About device
- Tap on Software Update
Or you can just hook your device up to your PC via USB and do the update with Kies. It should be a pretty hefty update, so it may take a while to download and install.
Sure it’s not the latest version of Android, but it is a whole lot newer than Ice Cream Sandwich which is over a year old now. And I’m sure all you Galaxy Note 10.1 users will love the addition of Google Now and Project Butter. Hopefully it won’t be to long before we see Android 4.2 heading to this device and Samsung’s other flagship devices like the Note 2 and the Galaxy S3.
Once you get the update, let us know in the comments below what you think of this update. Whether you had problems or not.
