Late last year, the official Nexus 7 dock finally went up for pre-order at B&H, and it had a tentative availability date of December 30th. They did miss that date, but it looks like the wait is now over for the Nexus 7 dock. The official Nexus 7 dock is now available at B&H for just $40.
Just like the Nexus 7 docks we’ve seen at other retailers this week, it’ll cost you about $40, and you’ll be paying extra for shipping. But you have choices for shipping methods, which start at around $4 for shipping that could take up to 10 days (what?). Now we know that there are a ton of people with the Nexus 7, so this dock could sell out pretty quickly. So you might want to go grab yours now before it’s gone.
So finally we can actually buy a landscape dock that uses the pogo pins on the side of your Nexus 7. It’s about time right? Seeing as we are almost ready for the next generation Nexus 7 to be announced at Google I/O in May. In fact, we’ve already seen rumors for the Nexus 7.7, which I still think are not true, but it’ll be interesting to see.
This is typical with Nexus devices, you get quick updates, but the official accessories come out about 6 months later. And by that time frame, this Nexus 7 dock is right on schedule. I know I’m not alone in thinking, and hoping, this changes with future Nexus devices. I would have loved to have this dock for the past few months for my Nexus 7.
