We’ve been hearing – and seeing – a lot of HTC’s upcoming smartphone, which is pegged to be their new flagship for the year and while we only have a name to go on – the “M7” – we’re pretty excited to see what HTC have to offer the industry. The consensus has been – up until recently – that HTC would be unveiling their new flagship device at MWC in Barcelona but, in the last few days rumors have surfaced that they’re going it alone for the M7’s unveiling. We’ve heard London and February 19th a couple of times and these press invites seem to confirm that, with a twist.
Android Central have been informed that HTC are holding two seperate events, one in New York and the other in London but, they’re both on the same date. Could this be HTC’s attempt of holding a sort of global event? We’re not sure obviously but, we hope that HTC has something good in store for the press otherwise, as this year could be a pivotal year for the Taiwanese company, at least here in the West of the world. Samsung are king of Android sales right now and HTC had a poor 2012 so, we hope that they’re considering kicking off the year in a big way with these announcements.
What do we want to see from this event? Well, of course there are a lot of things that any Android fan is going to want to see from this event but, what we’d really like to see is a smartphone along the lines of the Droid DNA for everyone. Carrier exclusivity isn’t cool and it’s not fun for consumers either, we’re hoping the Taiwanese company can release the new M7 on more than one carrier in the U.S. and announce a wide release across Europe.
Personally, I’m excited to see what HTC are going to do with Sense, I’ve never been a fan of it and this time around I’d like to see them reign it in a little bit more and deliver a quality device without messing with Android too much. What are you hoping to see from them at these events?
