Last week, we heard some bad news for those looking to grab a Nexus 4. We heard that LG was halting work on the Nexus 4, so they could focus on the next generation Nexus. Today, some leaks show off complete specs and features for the next Nexus phone and tablet. Both of which are said to be made by LG. And if the Nexus 4 fiasco was any indication, LG might fail again in 2013 with the Nexus. These devices are said to be debuting at Google I/O this year which is May 15-17th. Now that part of the rumor may not be all that outlandish since the Nexus 7 was debuted at Google I/O last year.
LG Nexus 5
Well this would be the fifth Nexus phone from Google and their partners, but the device is also supposedly going to sport a 5-inch display. Here are the full rumored specs:
- 5-inch, 1920×1080 resolution display, 440PPI
- Tegra 4 processor
- 2GB of RAM
- 8GB/16GB internal storage
- 13MP rear-facing camera; 3MP front-facing camera
There is also some pricing information floating around. It’s said that the 8GB version will retail for $299. Which is the same price as the 8GB Nexus 4 right now, if you can order one.
LG Nexus 7.7
This naming scheme is really going to mess Google up when they create next years’ Nexus tablets and phones. But as you can guess from the name, this will be a 7.7-inch tablet. And we also have specs on this one as well.
- 7.7-inch 1920×1200 resolution display 294 PPI
- Tegra 4 processor
- 2GB of RAM
- 8GB/16GB storage
- 720p HD Front and Rear facing cameras
The sources don’t mention what version of Android both devices will be running, we’d be fools if we didn’t expect Android 4.3, or Android 5.0 to be on these devices. Since Google always releases new Nexus devices with new versions of Android. The source also tells us that both devices will feature a very thin bezel, just 1mm thick.
Fake?
Probably. Think about it. Has any of the past Nexus devices really blown away other devices with their specs? Not really. Sure the Nexus 4 was one of the first devices with 2GB of RAM, but now just about every device has 2GB of RAM in it. Also, if the Nexus 5 does have a 13MP camera on the back, those picture files are going to be rather large. And with only 8GB and 16GB storage sizes, it means that you are going to have to rely on the cloud more than ever before. I was able to live off of the 8GB Nexus 4, but that’s with an 8MP camera, so the pictures are a bit smaller.
It’ll be interesting to see if these devices do turn out to be true, or if they are more rumors. But remember, it was this time last year that we started hearing about the Nexus 7 and Nexus 4. So these could be true. But since they are rumors, we strongly urge you to take them with a heavy grain of salt.
