Here’s yet another rumor for today, to go with the others we reported on this morning. According to Bright Side of News, which is a site that mainly focuses on the semi-conductor stuff. But they are reporting that Google is preparing its next generation Nexus 10 tablet, which is said to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress next month. Now I find this hard to be true since Google has always introduced their Nexus devices at their own events, like Google I/O. But this news outlet is reporting that the original Nexus 10 that has the dual-core Exynos 5 processor with the Mali-T604 GPU, the “general feeling” in the industry that the tablet was a bit underpowered and that a newer version of this chipset will beef it up.
This rumor is suggesting that the new Nexus 10 will be sporting a quad-core processor and the new 8-core Mali-T678 GPU. BSN is also mentioning that they believe they saw the next-gen tablet in the body of the current Nexus 10 at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this month. They also report that the benchmark performance on this device was “night and day” compared to the dual-core Exynos 5.
Now if these sources are correct the device will be on display at Mobile World Congress next month, but probably won’t be shipping for a months after. Might not ship until the back-to-school period, around July. Which is when the Nexus 7 was released last year. If this does happen, I’d say the official announcement will be at Google I/O in May, and it’ll just be a show-off session of the tablet at Mobile World Congress. So it’ll probably be at Samsung’s booth, so they can show off how fast that Exynos 5 Octa chip truly is.
On another note, both the 16GB and 32GB versions of the Nexus 10 are now sold out from the Play Store. This might have nothing to do with this, but it is worth noting.
The Nexus 10 is already amazing, but this 8-core processor is going to make it so much more amazing. I’d love to get a 8-core Nexus tablet in my hands, how about you? Let us know in the comments below.
