The Nexus 4 may finally be finding its stride when it comes to availability and stock as units are now rolling out to carriers. Not only are T-Mobile in the U.S. getting some stock but over the pond in the U.K., Virgin Mobile are to offer the device as well. Virgin Mobile aren’t really running their own network and runs off of the back of Everything Everywhere. Google’s flagship example of what stock Android can do is available on the network on a number of different tariffs and depending on how much you want to spend and what you expect from a monthly deal, then there are some good deals.
The tariffs in question start at just £31 a month and climb all the way up to £44, however all of them require signing into a two-year deal with the network. At the bottom end of the offers is the £31 a month offer that will give you 200 minutes, 500 texts and just 500MB of data to play with, with the Nexus yours for nothing. Not a lot of data or text messages on offer there but the phone is still free at that offer. For those who still don’t want to pay anything for the device and want a little extra can pay £36 a month and get 600 minutes, unlimited text messages and a 1GB data allowance. Which sounds a lot better than the £31 a month offer. £39 a month will get you unlimited mobile data, unlimited text messages and 2500 minutes, with a £44 a month package adding 500 minutes to premium U.K. landline numbers.
Now, if you were to spend £99 on the handset and then just $34 a month you get the attractive deal of unlimited talk time to U.K. landlines, 2500 minutes to other mobile phones, unlimited texts and still unlimited data. If you’re either a Virgin TV or broadband customer – as I am – you get free insurance and unlimited calls and texts to other Virgin Mobile customers and a reduced cost on your monthly plan for 6 months.
All-in-all it looks like a solid offering from Virgin Mobile and if you’re not locked into a contract right now then this could be the deal for you, the Nexus 4 should last 2 years as there is a strong developer community behind it and Google themselves will provide official updates long after HTC and Samsung would.
