The crew at the Las Vegas Convention Center is putting the last few finishing touches on the different booths for all the manufacturers there. So we’re seeing plenty of leaks tonight. Earlier we saw Sony’s new Xperia Z on display. Now a new billboard for Huawei was uncovered and confirms the Ascend D2. The Ascend D2 is the 5-inch device from Huawei. But we will still have to wait until tomorrow to get the full details on this device. Their press conference is at 1pm EST, and of course we’ll have complete coverage here at Android Headlines.
The rumored specs for the Ascend D2 are:
- 5-inch 1080p display (1920×1080 resolution)
- K3V quad-core 1.5GHz processor (Huawei’s own built chip)
- 13MP rear-facing camera
- Android 4.1 – Jelly Bean
- 3000mAh battery
So as you can see there are still quite a bit of blanks that need to be filled in here. Like the internal storage, RAM, etc. Hopefully it does get bumped up to Android 4.2, then the Ascend D2 will really stand out at the show this week. Among all the other Android 4.1-based devices like the Xperia Z, ZTE Grand S, and more.
Huawei isn’t to popular here in the US. And they are really trying to change that the Ascend D2 and the Ascend Mate. Usually you only see Huawei on the prepaid or no-contract carriers like MetroPCS, Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile and a device or two on T-Mobile. In fact they built the last myTouch for T-Mobile. Hopefully 2013 will be the year where Huawei can make a huge splash in the US market. We could really use another strong manufacturer here. Especially since HTC and Motorola are dying slowly (I hope they come back though) and Samsung is running away with the market share. But we’ll see more tomorrow about the Ascend D2 and Ascend Mate. Which one are you looking forward to more?
So who wants another 5-inch, 1080p device? Let us know in the comments.
