I hope that none of you reading this are sick and tired of rumors just yet, as there’s more to come and unsurprisingly, it’s Samsung that are at the mercy of the rumor mill, once again. Doing the rounds are rumors of a Galaxy Note 8.0 which will be another entry into Samsung’s successful Note line of devices, joining the Note II and the Note 10.1. We’ve been hearing rumors of a Galaxy Note tablet around the 7-inch size for some time and a lot of the rumors were concerning a 7.7-inch AMOLED panel from Samsung, akin to that in the Galaxy Tab 7.7, but it looks like Samsung have decided to go with something a little bigger.
Now, there is a picture that claims to be taken of a piece of promotional material that has not only given us clues as to what it might look like, but what the specs of the device could be as well. We’re not sure whether or not to call this one a done deal just yet but, we did see first signs of life when it came to the Note 10.1 at last year’s MWC in Barcelona.
On the specs front there could be the following inside this new device:
- 8.0″ 1280 x 800 Display
- 1.6 Ghz quad-core processor
- 2GB of RAM
- 16GB internal storage with room for microSD cards
- Support for HSPA+ 21mbps
- 5.0 MP rear-facing camera with 1,3 MP front-facing
- True pen input with the S-Pen
So, the specs seem pretty good for a tablet of this size and while there is no word of AMOLED in the alleged piece of advertising material I would be very surprised if it weren’t included here. All of the Note device so far – apart from the Note 10.1 – have featured AMOLED displays and we wonder if Samsung will want to go with standard LCD in a new Note product. When talking about the processor we wouldn’t be surprised if we saw the same quad-core 4412 that’s in the Note II as Samsung know how to get the best performance out of that chip. Would the S-Pen be enough to set this apart from the crowd or will it something more?
