JK Shin Confirms the 8-inch Galaxy Note for Mobile World Congress

The Galaxy Note line has proven to be very successful for Samsung. With the original Note, it sold like hot cakes and was only available on AT&T in the US. Then at Mobile World Congress in 2012, Samsung introduced to us the Galaxy Note 10.1, bringing the S Pen to the tablet. And while that’s sold reasonably well, and will be headed to Verizon very soon, how about an 8-inch Galaxy Note tablet? Or would that be a phone? With the recent phone sizes coming out from the likes of Samsung and Huawei (and rumored from ZTE), it could be either.

Well, the head of Samsung Mobile, JK Shin, has apparently confirmed in a report to INews24, that we will in fact see another size variation of the Note at Mobile World Congress next month in Barcelona. This same news outlet first got word on the Galaxy S3 Mini from JK Shin before anything was official, so this could be the real deal. Now we’ve already seen this 8-inch Galaxy Note device hit the benchmark sites and it appears to have a 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor and have a 1280×800 resolution on that 8-inch display. Although nothing is truly confirmed yet, we do know Samsung is bringing another size variation to the Note line next month.

Let’s hope that this 8-inch tablet will be better than other 8-inch tablet’s we’ve seen with stylus support. Anyone remember the HTC Flyer or the HTC EVO View 4G? Yeah, kinda hard to remember that far back, since they were running Gingerbread which wasn’t quite optimized for tablets and of course it was running Sense as always with HTC devices. Yeah they were pretty awful. Let’s see if Samsung can reinvent the 8-inch tablet. I know I’ve got faith in them.

Who’s interested in getting the Galaxy Note 8.something? Let’s face it, we know Samsung is going to make it 8.3, 8.6, or something. They can never just have rounded numbers for their tablets. Let us know in the comments below if you’re interested in this device.
