Just because CES is over, doesn’t mean the leaks stop. Actually they never really stop. And with Mobile World Congress right around the corner, there’s bound to be a ton of leaks in the next few weeks. Especially since all the major OEM’s pretty much skipped CES this year, Samsung, HTC, LG, and Motorola, none of them had any real phone or tablet announcements at CES. Samsung did announce the Galaxy Note 10.1 coming to Verizon though, but that was hardly a big announcement.
Well here’s a leak from Samsung, it showed up in GLBenchmark’s database. It appears to be the SCH-I425 and codenamed the “Godiva”. Now who’s familiar with the SCH-I405 and the SCH-I415? Those the are the Stratosphere and Stratosphere 2 released in 2011 and 2012, respectively. So this could be the third generation Stratosphere. And typically Samsung device models that have an ‘I’ in them head to Verizon. Not to mention the Build display shows “godivavzw-” in them.
As far as the other specs go, here’s what we’ve got from the leaked pictures:
- 1280×720 resolution display
- 1.4GHz Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 dual-core processor
- Android 4.1.2
So of course, like most benchmarks, it doesn’t show us a ton of information. And with the specs listed above, it doesn’t sound like this is going to be a flagship device from Samsung. Especially with all the 1080p, quad-core devices we saw at CES and we will see at Mobile World Congress next month. But it is a pretty big bump over the Stratosphere 2 which was a 4-inch, 480×800 resolution and a 1.2GHz processor. More power is always better, right?
Now we do have to remind you that this is a leak, and it could very well be faked, or even been scrapped by Samsung already. We’ve seen this happen before from other manufacturers. And it’s actually easier than you think to fake a benchmark score. So we’ll keep an eye on this and see if anything else pops up about this Godiva device from Samsung, that looks to be headed to Verizon.
