All week long we’ve been seeing leaks of this new Galaxy Note family member. The Galaxy Note 8.0 was confirmed by Samsung Mobile’s VP, JK Shin, to be making an appearance at Mobile World Congress next month in Barcelona, but that hasn’t stopped the leaks and rumors from coming out. Today, some new pictures from the French Android site Frandroid have popped up showing the Galaxy Note 8.0 and its S Pen software.
As you can see in the image above, it looks a lot like a blown up Galaxy S3. Along with the physical home button, and capacitive menu and back buttons. That’s not something Samsung normally puts on their tablets. They normally place those physical and capacitive buttons on their phones. Now if you look at the top, you’ll see an earpiece for making/receiving calls. You can also see part of the dock in the picture and see that there is a phone app there. So could this be the gigantic Galaxy Note we’ve been hearing about? Now isn’t this is a bit to big to be a phone?
These new pictures also show more of the software that the Galaxy Note 8.0 is actually running. You can tell that it’s running Samsung’s phone version of Touchwiz, and not the tablet variant of the skin. Which is similar to the approach Google is taking in Android 4.2. Remember the Nexus 10 has the phone UI on a beautiful 10-inch display.
Samsung is still expected to announce the Galaxy Note 8.0 at Mobile World Congress next month in Barcelona. And the specs we’ve seen flying around for this tablet include:
- 8-inch 1280×800 display
- 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos 4
- 2GB of RAM
- 16/32GB internal storage; Expandable via microSD card
