Motorola's X Phone Debuting at Google I/O with Key Lime Pie?

How about another rumor? We’ve already heard a ton about the Motorola and Google X phone that is supposed to be coming sometime this year. And I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m excited for it. We’ve heard all kinds of things about this phone, even that it’s supposed to be a Nexus-type device. But we’ll have to wait and see on that. The latest rumor is coming out of the Droid Forums, and that it won’t be a Nexus device, but it will be the first device to have Key Lime Pie and be announced at Google I/O which is in May.

Now what’s surprising here is that Google typically announces Nexus devices at Google I/O, for example last year they announced the Nexus 7 by ASUS with Android 4.1 – Jelly Bean. What’s also interesting is that it’ll be the first to have Key Lime Pie, that is usually reserved for Nexus devices. So is Google doing away with the Nexus program in 2013? Or is this new ‘X’ phone the new “nexus” device? It’s definitely something to think about.

We’ve also got some other news regarding the display. It’s supposedly going to feature a 5-inch edge-to-edge display. Now this could be where those Nexus 5 rumors came from earlier this week. This would be the fifth Nexus phone, and it would be a 5-inch device, similar to the Nexus 4 being the fourth Nexus phone and having a 4.7-inch display.

Remember this is just a rumor, so don’t take our word for this and take it with a grain of salt. This could happen, but it’s also very likely that it might not happen. As we saw last fall, leading up to the Nexus 4 announcement, there are plenty of hoaxers out there. But if anything gets confirmed, we’ll be sure to report on it and let you know. As for myself, I really hope this X phone is real and comes at Google I/O. It sounds really exciting and can’t wait to see what it’s all about!
