It seems like every other week we see reports of the Google / LG Nexus 4 going on sale (or being out of stock) and today I have some good news for you. The nearly impossible to get smartphone is listed back as in stock on T-Mobile’s website.
Granted it’s only the 16GB listed, which is all T-Mobile has ever offered, but get on this right now if you are still searching for the device as we have no idea how many units they actually have in stock. The price points on the device are $199.99 for people who sign up for a classic plan and $499.99 for those of you who are looking to get the device “off contract”. These prices are obviously higher than the ones on the Google Play Store ($349 off contract), but if you really want the phone now’s your chance.
I’m sure you all know which route I’m recommending…off Contract of course. Even after paying T-Mobile the extra $150 and change you’re still getting a steal in my opinion. Sure you could pay the $199.99 and get on one of T-Mobile’s Classic Plans which start at $59.99 a month which is not a bad deal. However by paying a little extra up front you can own your device outright and either get on a T-Mobile prepaid plan which starts at $30 a month or have the freedom to take your business elsewhere to a variety of MVNO’s which may have better coverage in your area. And of course by paying that extra hundred and fifty dollars you end up saving much more in the long run.
The Google / LG Nexus 4 has had a rough journey getting into the hands of consumers. We’ve seen an apology from Google’s UK and Ireland managing director Dan Cobley, which blames LG’s “scarce and erratic supply” and “flawed communication”. Then we had LG Mobile France’s director pointing the finger back at Google by saying that they were given the wrong estimates.
At this point the only thing that really matters is that there are available units out there. Hopefully some of you will be able to check this phone off your to do list before they go back out of stock.
