Lately, the Nexus 4 has been announced as launching on many different carriers worldwide. Even though we still can’t get our hands on one in the Play Store. The Canadian carrier, Fido, has announced that they will have the device beginning “early February”. You might remember, that Videotron is getting the Nexus 4 in about a week, so Fido isn’t far behind their competition. So far pricing for Fido has not been announce or released yet.
As usual with the Nexus 4, there are concerns about stock and availability. Especially since Google Play can’t keep them in stock, and T-Mobile here in the US got a new shipment and had it in stock for less than 24 hours before they were sold out again. But, thankfully you can guarantee yourself the device by reserving it through Fido’s Reservation System. This will require a $40 deposit, but that’s still better than not getting the Nexus 4, right?
It also looks like Bell is going to be getting the Nexus 4 in Canada soon. Earlier this week, we noted that they dropped the full price of the Galaxy Nexus to $350. Which is about $300 of the original pricing, on the one-year-old Nexus device. Which sounds like Bell is paving the way for a Nexus 4 launch soon.
We don’t know pricing for any of the carriers in Canada offering the Nexus 4. But like T-Mobile here in the US, I’d expect Videotron, and Fido (possibly Bell as well) to charge more than Google would for the Nexus 4. Here in the US, T-Mobile is charging $199 for the 16GB Nexus 4 with a contract, and $549 outright. That’s about $200 more than what Google Play is charging for the 16GB version. But Google Play hasn’t had it in stock for quite a while now.
So it looks like our friends in Canada are going to have more of a carrier choice for where they can grab a Nexus 4 in the coming weeks. Is anyone planning on picking up the Nexus 4 from Videotron, or Fido soon? Let us know in the comments below.
