Samsung is on the move with its newest tablet line, and rumor has it that the manufacturer will stay on its current track and go with the Galaxy Tab and Note monikers on the most recently rumored slates.
Word from Korean insiders is that Samsung has at least three tablet lines in the works. The first of which being the latest from the Galaxy Tab family and will be called the Galaxy Tab 3 7 and 10(which will be a 10.1″ tablet). Both tablets will likely come in both 3G and Wi-Fi versions. This slate is currently being built under the code name Santos and will likely actually be model numbers GT-P3200, GT-P3210, GT-P5200 and GT-P5210.
There were also rumors floating about last week of an 8-inch variant to be added to the Note family and now we have a full spec-sheet to go along with those rumors, again thanks to an insider close to Samsung.
The latest member of the Note family is currently going as code name Kona and will feature Android’s latest 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system. The official name will be the GALAXY Note 8.0 and will come in both a 3G and a Wi-Fi variant with model numbers GT-N5100 and GT-N5110. The dimensions of the new product will be 211.3—136.3—7.95 mm and the unit will weigh 330 grams. The display is of course 8″ and will have a resolution of 1280 x 800 on a TFT Super Clean LCD. At press time the type of CPU is not known but it is rumored to have four cores and be clocked at 1.6 GHz. The newest Note is also said to have both a 5MP camera on the back side of the device and a 1.3MP shooter on the front facing side. As far as the rest of the internals, the device is slated to have both 16GB and 32GB options and will come with 2GB of RAM. There will also be a micro-sd card slot for adding more storage if you are so compelled. If these rumors are correct this looks to be a top of the line new gadget from our friends at Samsung.
There is not much known about the third tablet that has been tipped off by the Samsung insider. All that is known of this mystery product is that it is being built under the code name Roma, comes in 16GB and 32GB models, has a 5MP camera and the model is GT-P8200. The insider was not certain even on the operating system that the slate will run.
Oh, what a plethora of rumors we have from good ol’ Samsung today. Just remember folks, these are rumors and should be taken at such. Don’t put off buying that Nexus 10 just yet in favor of the next generation of Samsung tabs. It is OK though, to start getting excited about Samsung’s tablet future because if this tipster has his facts straight, we will be seeing all of these tablets in the first half of 2013.
