Well, if you’re in Canada, and you’re on either Fido or Rogers and have the Motorola Razr HD (the international version of the Droid Razr HD) you should have some Jelly Beans on their way. Today we’ve been receiving reports that Razr HD customers on Fido and Rogers are both receiving notifications for updates to Android 4.1.2. Which means they will have a more up to date version of Android then those on Verizon, who’ve had the update for a few months now. For those interested, the build date is December 20, and the build number is 9.8.2Q-8-XT925_VQL-12.2, and the update is about 308MB in size.
In Android 4.1.1 – Jelly Bean you’ll be receiving all kinds of new features, including:
- Google Now
- Expandable Notifications
- Project Butter
- Performance and stability fixes
- …and updates to Motorola’s custom UI
It’s a nice update, and for being nearly stock Android it’s taken way to long for these Canadian carriers to push it out. We’ve talked about fragmentation a lot. Even though Motorola is working hard to get updates out there quickly, the carriers are still messing it up for their customers. Which is making the customers made with Motorola, when they should be upset with Fido or Rogers. But that’s a story for another time.
You can go ahead and grab the update for your device by:
- Go into Settings
- Tap About Phone
- Tap Software Update
- Check for Updates
If that doesn’t pull down your update, you may have to try again later. These roll outs are usually staggered and take a few weeks to hit everyone. So I’d suggest trying a few times a day until you get it. I’m sure an update.zip will surface on the interwebs soon that you can install and get the update even sooner. We’ll be sure to keep our eyes out for that one.
Any of our readers on Fido or Rogers with the Razr HD get Jelly Beans yet? If you do, let us know in the comments below what you like or dislike about the update.
